Managing Director

Ed Boxall

Ed brings over a quarter-century of expertise to the world of aviation, having served as an airline pilot and occupying prominent positions in training and human factors within the field.

In 2013, Ed channelled his extensive knowledge and experience into the founding of Sensorem, which has since flourished under his guidance into one of the premier drone and remote sensing inspection and survey companies in Australia. His leadership was pivotal in 2020 when Sensorem joined the Aerodyne Group, further solidifying its industry position.

Throughout his tenure, Ed has been at the helm of some of Australia’s most ambitious and expansive drone inspection initiatives, covering essential sectors such as critical infrastructure, mining, and agriculture.

The year 2023 marked a significant milestone for Ed and Sensorem. With the launch of the DJI Dock Drone-in-a-Box solution, he provided critical support to the Sensorem team in securing Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and Remote Operations accreditation from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Ed remains steadfast in his commitment to advancing the adoption of cutting-edge drone and remote sensing technologies across various sectors.

General Manager

Cooper Smart

Cooper has been leading the Sensorem team since the beginning of 2023. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has extensive experience in the fields of inspection, robotics and drone systems, particularly within the oil and gas, mining, and power generation sectors.

His expertise includes planning and executing complex inspections, with a focus on achieving accurate and efficient outcomes. At Sensorem, Cooper applies his technical skills and attention to detail to ensure that all projects meet strict industry standards and safety requirements. His aim is to ensure that every project is completed correctly on the first attempt, leveraging both innovative technologies and proven strategies.

Cooper’s practical approach and dedication to quality have significantly boosted Sensorem’s capabilities. He continuously strives to lead and inspire the Sensorem team to work together effectively, maintaining their status as industry leaders.

Senior Data Analyst

Nirmaljeetsingh Bal

Nirmaljeetsingh (NJ) is a Senior Data Analyst at Sensorem, where he leads the Desktop Data Analysis segment of Telco structure inspections. His responsibilities encompass processing 3D models and site scans, as well as managing data for the DRONOS Telco cloud-based visualisation platform. With a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, NJ leads a dedicated team of Data Analysts to ensure telco inspections meet and exceed client expectations.

With over three years of experience in telco asset inspections, NJ joined Sensorem at the inception of its national telecommunications inspection program. He excels in translating technical findings into actionable recommendations that significantly influence business outcomes. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, NJ ensures data-driven insights are seamlessly integrated into the company’s decision-making processes, driving growth and profitability.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, NJ is dedicated to staying at the cutting edge of data analytics trends and technologies. He actively participates in industry conferences, stays current with the latest research developments, and continually seeks opportunities for learning and skill enhancement.

Project Manager

Leah McKie

Since joining Sensorem, Leah has distinguished herself with her exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage complex projects across multiple industries.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for efficiency, Leah oversees logistics, planning, compliance, and operations for two large national telco inspection programs.

Leah manages a large team of remote pilots across Australia, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure optimal performance and safety during field operations. Her strong leadership skills and commitment to excellence have earned her the respect and trust of her team, resulting in consistently high levels of performance and client satisfaction.

In early 2024, Leah expanded her role to include managing very complex boutique inspection projects. Whether managing complex infrastructure inspections or large-scale aerial surveys, Leah approaches each project with professionalism and a determination to exceed client expectations.

Project Manager

Bronwyn Smith

Bronwyn oversees the Amplitel and Indara telecommunications inspection programs.

She’s been involved in the telecommunications industry for over a decade, joining Sensorem at the very beginning of the Amplitel inspection program.

She handles day-to-day operations and planning for the team of 12 pilots, and manages multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Over the course of Sensorem’s telco projects, she has helped to develop and refine the processes that Sensorem uses to manage this project today, and overseen an expanding and ambitious scope of works.

Bronwyn is passionate about the many exciting possibilities – and benefits – that Sensorem’s emerging technology can have on the telco industry.

Chief Remote Pilot at Sensorem

Liam Moore

A passionate drone enthusiast and skilled remote pilot, Liam Moore has been at the forefront of the drone industry since 2017, where he seamlessly integrates his love for photography with cutting-edge aerial technologies. Liam brings a robust background in emergency management, having dedicated years to both volunteer and professional firefighting roles. His educational foundation includes a diploma in Emergency Management and Public Safety and a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, which have equipped him with essential skills for leading in high-pressure situations.

Throughout his career, Liam has harnessed the power of drones to enhance operational efficiency in emergency management. His expertise in aerial imagery has proven invaluable in mapping fire grounds post-prescribed burns, aiding ground crews in pinpointing and addressing hotspots, which has significantly improved safety and effectiveness during critical operations.

In 2021, Liam joined Sensorem and quickly emerged as a key team member. His work has been instrumental in executing telco inspections across Australia, reflecting his commitment to precision and quality. His extensive experience includes navigating the complex terrains of outback South Australia for mapping missions, and delivering accurate and timely data despite challenging conditions.

As a Senior Remote Pilot, Liam’s contributions were vital to the vHive project, a groundbreaking initiative known for its advancements in drone technology and data analytics. His role as a subject matter expert has not only benefited Sensorem but also set new industry standards in drone operations.

In his current role as Chief Remote Pilot at Sensorem, Liam is not only pushing the boundaries of drone applications but also overseeing and mentoring a team of remote pilots. His leadership ensures that the team operates at the highest standards of safety and efficiency, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovation and excellence within the company. Liam’s commitment to his team and his strategic vision continue to advance Sensorem’s capabilities and impact.

Outside of his professional work, Liam is an advocate for the application of drone technology in emergency response and environmental management. He actively shares his knowledge with the industry and remains deeply involved in the firefighting community, inspiring the next generation of emergency responders.

In his leisure time, Liam enjoys exploring the outdoors and staying engaged with firefighting activities.

Luke Griffin

As a seasoned Business Manager with a keen focus on the dynamic field of drone technology, Luke brings a blend of strategic vision and technical expertise to Sensorem.
